Addon to v1 user manual. --- Oversampling (OS) Five modes: - Normal (no oversampling) - Hi-Q Now (non linear phase, IIR, oversampling in realtime AND on export) - Hi-Q Export (the same only on export) - Super-Q Now (linear phase, FIR, oversampling in realtime AND on export) - Super-Q Export (the same only on export) Check the sound with "Now" version, set it to "Export", get the OS on export. Hi-Q is more suitable for single tracks, Super-Q is more suitable for master bus (respects phase). IMPORTANT: oversampling uses filtering and, so, introduces latency. Latency is compensated internally for mix knob (no phase issues), it is reported to host (the sequencer can compensate for delays between tracks and keep them aligned). Being OS mode variable, introduced latency is variable. When you switch from Normal to Hi-Q to Super-Q and back, switch the plugin off and on to be sure it reports latency to host. No problem while exporting, it should do it automatically. How do oversamplig modes compare soundwise? They should sound the same, even though deeper listening is due. How do OS modes compare levelwise? They are balanced to get the same output level (different modes and realtime/export). --- Machines and linking modes Nine options: 1) Standalone 2) Tape Machine A-D 3) Linked A-D 1) Each instance of the plugin is standalone and completely independent from any one else. 2) Instances on the same Tape Machine share: Speed, Action, Emphasis, Mix, OS mode, Bypass 3) Instances linked to a Tape Machine share Bypass Input and Output are independent, even in Tape Machine mode, because each track needs its own level. It is the single (track based) input/output send to the Machine. Presets: each track includes two parallel memories: Standalone and Tape. When in Standalone or Linked mode it used the internal set, while in Tape Machine mode it uses the common set. You can switch to Tape Machine and Back and switch between the two sets. --- New algorithms eight new algorithms: - 15ips Hard Comp - 4x 7.5ips modes - 3x "Dirty" modes. More harmonics are produced. --- Compatibility with v.1 Presets need re-programming. While some space for new parameters was allocated, the new linked modes imposed re-organizing of parameters. To get EXACTLY the same behaviour of v.1: "Normal" mode, Mix knob to 100%, an existing (v.1) algorithm. --- Tips 1) Use oversampling for tracks very dynamic and rich of harmonics (guitar, piano) 2) Use Super-Q Export OS for master bus 3) Never let OL led go on (digital overload) 4) EQ before for different harmonic content, after for different overall equalization. If you need more highs, EQ after. Model new harmonics with heavy EQ before (and maybe opposite EQ after) 5) Assign a coherent set of tracks to the same Tape Machine (i.e.: "Drum Tracks") 6) Try using high values for Action and compensate for highs loss after.
